The Octobers of 2018, 2021, and now 2024 have one thing in common. Tom Hardy dazzled on screen as Mr Eddie Brock, who is also known as Venom. The Sony Pictures-backed Venom franchise is one outlandish series that revels in the periphery of the Marvel universe, and has an eccentric vibe to it that perfectly captures the randomness of the titular symbiote. Ahead of the release of the franchise’s third part, titled Venom: The Last Dance, the makers released the trailer, which has set the tone for the franchise finale.

The official logline of the film reads, “Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”

The trailer begins with Brock and Venom holding on to an aeroplane in the sky, and the former channelling his underlying sarcasm to ask, “How does Tom Cruise do this?” This perfectly aligns with the outlandish approach of the Venom franchise, and the trailer gives us an insight into the minds of Brock and the symbiote coming to terms with their eventuality.

Here’s the trailer:

They are in pursuit of a certain He-who-must-not-be-named aka Knull, and understand that their symbiotic relationship has run its course. There is a beautiful imagery of Michaelangelo’s the Creation of Adam, and then when the symbiote says, “”I’ll be with you till the end,” it dawns on us that it is actually the end after six years and three films.

Festive offer

Apart from Tom Hardy, Venom: The Last Dance also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham.

While the first part of the franchise was helmed by Ruben Fleischer, the second part was directed by Andy Serkis. Kelly Marcel, who wrote and backed the first two instalments of the franchise, has taken on the directorial responsibilities for Venom: The Last Dance. The film will hit screens on October 25.
