Superstar Aamir Khan and Twinkle Khanna share a banter which involves she catching him crying on movie sets and him noting her biggest talent: insulting people. An old video has surfaced in which Aamir Khan is seen candidly confessing that acting wasn’t the strongest side of Twinkle Khanna, with whom he worked in the box office disaster Mela.
During the event, hosted by Karan Johar, when the filmmaker asked if Aamir ever thought Twinkle was a good actress, the superstar was stumped. Twinkle said, “Once he asked me, ‘What happened? Why are you not focusing on work?’ and I told him I am thinking about Akshay, he almost slapped me!” Aamir, surprised at the revelation said, “Really? I don’t think I would have reacted that way.”
When Karan asked him again about his honest thoughts on Twinkle’s acting prowess, she laughed and added, “Stop asking him so many times. I couldn’t act, I am very happy I quit.”
Aamir, though, was holding the punchline for himself as he answered, “All of us have different abilities and Twinkle is really talented in some of the most amazing activities like insulting people. She is an expert at that. All through my life, she has constantly insulted me.”

Twinkle then revealed how she once caught Aamir crying behind a rock when Dharmesh Darshan didn’t listen to his suggestion while directing Mela. “He had gone to the director to explain his shot, but he didn’t listen. Now this is Aamir, who is very serious about his work, so he was heartbroken. I found him sitting behind a massive rock and crying!”
An embarrassed Aamir added, “Look at what she is doing! But it was amazing working with her, because I discovered that behind this bimbet exterior, there was a sharp person who had a great intellect and sense of humour. She was extremely perceptive of human behaviour and relationships, which I found quite fascinating.”
Over the years, Twinkle has often joked about Mela and specifically her performance in the film. Mela was one of the last on-screen works of the actor, who quit movies in 2001 with the film Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.
