Actor Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir, who is known for her work in the movies Suryavanshi and Miss 420, among others, made headlines for her special appearance in Karan Johar‘s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. A year after the film’s release, she revealed why she agreed to do a small role in the film, and the trepidation she felt because it involved a kiss. “I was dying to work under Karan,” she claimed in a recent interview.

Speaking to ABP’s Entertainment Live, Sheeba recalled, “I think Karan randomly saw me and said, ‘Wow, this is a good option’, but then they got a bit scared when they approached me because they said, ‘You will have to kiss Dharmendra’. I was like, ‘Okay, I need some time to think. I will have to check with my husband if he’s okay with it.’ And then my husband said, ‘It’s okay, it’s a fun little thing in the film. It isn’t something you can’t watch with the kids.’ I said, ‘Okay, I can do it, no worries’. Incidentally, the kiss didn’t happen, it just turned out to be a sweet little peck and it was a very cute guest appearance.”

Sheeba said that her special appearance in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani was an exception, and that she doesn’t want to do small roles anymore. She even turned down a role of similar length in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. She said, “At first, I said I will do Bhool Bhulaiyaa, but when they narrated the script to me, I realised it was just one scene in the beginning of the movie. I said, ‘I can’t do this.’ I can’t do one scene in every film. I said, ‘No, I won’t do one scene in movies anymore.”

She clarified, “I did one (in Rocky Aur Rani) because I was dying to work under Karan Johar. First of all, Dharma is huge, and on top of that Karan himself was directing the film, so I said, ‘Okay, one scene is also a good one.’ But, I can’t keep doing this again and again.”

Festive offer

Speaking about the response she received for the role, Sheeba had told The Times of India, “There was too much clapping and laughter in the theatres. I’m glad that I did it.” She added, “It’s a delight to be part of Karan Johar film. Maybe next time, we are repeated with bigger roles.” Sheeba recently acted in Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, also co-produced by Karan Johar. She is married to actor Akashdeep Sabir.
